INTRODUCTION
Ilesa West Local Government Area with the headquarters at Ereja Square is purely an urban area. It is the headquarters of Ijesa division. Ilesa West Local Government Area was carved out of the defunct Ilesa Local Government Area following the creation of additional local governments in Nigeria in November 1996.
The local government is unique in Ijesaland as its heaquarters is the seat of Owa Obokun Adimula, the paramount ruler of Ijesaland. The council area also houses the cenotaph of the legendary warlord of the famous Ekiti Parapo War, Chief Ogendengbe Agbogungboro.
